Contaminated land case study - Stourbridge

Investigations on a housing estate in Stourbridge to determine whether the land is contaminated have concluded, and Dudley Council has revealed there is no pollution threat to residents.

The council carried out two phases of testing on 75 properties after routine maintenance work revealed the presence of waste materials, including ash and metal. Built on the site of a former tip that was in use between 1949-1960, the site was eventually redeveloped for housing in 1969. Following the testing, Dudley Council undertook some remedial work at one property, purely as a precautionary measure, and have thanked all residents for their patience throughout a nervous time for homeowners.
